Eau De Vie Pairs with King Island Dairy for Cocktails and Cheese
What to pair with cheese? Normally it's wine, the nuances of which perfectly match the nuances of cheese. But wait! Eau De Vie surprised with a magical pairing of cocktails with King Island Dairy Cheese. Check out our Best Bars in Melbourne.
The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the Cocktail Flights with King Island Dairy event, along with a packed house of both cocktail and cheese enthusiasts.
Eau De Vie itself is a classic bar hidden gem in Malthouse Lane in the hear tof the Melbourne CBD. With 700+ back bar spirits it has plenty to offer. Behind a fake bookcase is a charming Whisky Room.
The World Loves Melbourne was fortunate to sit at one of their Degustation tables, of bar height, where the bar holds many of its pairing events (often whisky and cheese).
But Eau De Vie is tipping cocktails and cheese to be a pairing of the summer!
A partnership with leading Melbourne bar Eau De Vie, King Island Dairy featured their award winning cheeses with cocktails by noted bartender Oscar Eastman. Oscar was an enigmatic host who had put in much detail and effort to come up with the perfect pairings.
Guests indulged in five cocktails to pair with cheeses including the Amber Isle ( a favourite of The World Loves Melbourne as it had a Bourbon base) to match Furneaux Double Cream cheese; Silver Soldier (exotic with Mezcal and creme de violette) to match Stoke Point Smoke Cheddar; Roaring Tempest (a creamy cocktail) to match Roaring 40s Blue Cheese; the 1902 (with Lagavulin Scotch Whisky so obviously another of our favourites) to match Discovery Ash Brie; and The Bitter End (with Calle 23 tequila and Farigoule Thyme liqueur).
These were excellent cocktails, served as minis, in the interestes of responsible drinking. We also need to point out there was champagne on arrival so all in all, it was the perfect amount of alcohol.
The World Loves Melbourne (David and Mario) enjoyed mixing with the guests at our table, an added dimension of the event.
Cocktail Flights With King Island Dairy was a sophisticated event that broke the mould (excuse the pun) in pairing drinks with cheese.
