CH James Rewarding New Winter Menu
CH James has launched it's winter menu, and we were invited to sample the dishes on offer. CH James is a popular foodie hub in Station Street Fairfield and known for it's smart modern food, great coffee and unique trio of festive spaces.
CH James has built up a large local following as well as customers from across Melbourne since it opened at the end of 2014. In recent times it has added a stylish function space which is popular for business groups, birthday celebrations, engagement parties and more. Its menu has been evolving and always top class; more like restaurant food in a cafe. With top chefs there is a level of finesse here you won't find at most other places.
We came here for lunch but breakfast is also a rewarding experience; try the Grilled Waffle, the Only If You're Hungry (been on the menu since the start), the Flaked Salmon, Brioche French Toast for the sweet tooth, and the Hungry Vego healthy style breakfast.
The CH James Cheeseburger is delicious with bacon, relish, dill pickle, aoli on brioche with added side of chips. This is a large well balanced burger with patty cooked with right tinge of pink for juiciness, and the bacon and ozzy cheese a highlight.
Other menu items that caught our eye include the Mushroom Burger, the Vegetable Bowl, Pressed Lamb Shoulder and the Braised Ox Cheek. The Chicken Schnitzel dish is popular and has been tweaked again in recent times.
CH James has an appealing menu across the board with healthier eating options on trend. Butter Beans with braised cavalanero, tofu cream and sourdough is a savvy dish celebrating whole foods.
Indulgent is the Mac and Cheese with delightful crumbs on top. Creamy and cheesy!
Also on trend for a healthier lunch is the standout Pan roasted Salmon dish with creamed kale and polenta; featuring crispy skin and generous portion of Salmon.
The sides are engaging such as this Green salad with radishes and lemons.
Coffee is always on point with Small Batch coffee.
We were surprised by the sophistication of the desserts! Did someone say Nutella and waffle? Or Tart and berries?
CH James is not that far out of the city so easily accessible including the northern and eastern suburbs. They can cater for larger groups and the food and drinks are top notch. Order your own or even share dishes - CH James is great for catch ups with friends. Highly recommended.
