The Emerson rooftop transforms into an Asian wonderland
It can be a challenge to beat the winter blues in Melbourne but thankfully The Emerson has created the illusion of a getaway with its ‘Winter in Asia’ theme.
The Emerson’s rooftop bar is well renowned for its city views, alluring atmosphere and is definitely one of the hot spots during the summer months. The space is partially enclosed for the winter and has been transformed into an Oriental oasis decorated with bright coloured lanterns, cherry blossom arrangements and silk draping.
The World Loves Melbourne was invited to the official launch of ‘Winter in Asia’ earlier this month and was able to taste the result of a successful collaboration between The Emerson and Windsor restaurant, Susie Wong. Suzy Wong is known for its bold creations and together, the two venues bring a south-east Asian and Japanese themed menu that’s sure to impress any foodie.
The menu boasts both small and large grazing plates including the five spice pork belly with chilli caramel, apple and radish salad, garlic king prawn skewers, and your classic dumplings and spring rolls.
Be sure to stop by the bar and try some of the vibrant-coloured cocktails that can be created with green tea, Japanese whiskies or sake from the talented bar staff.
And if you still have room for desert, you have a choice of coconut pudding, vanilla panna cotta or a chocolate fondant.
Each Thursday, guests can try their luck in the 'Dump DV Challenge' where each participant must eat 20 dumplings in two minutes. The winner of each night will go into the draw to win a trip to Japan. Entry is $25 and all proceeds go towards an amazing cause, the 'Face up to DV Appeal'.
Save your frequent flyer points and have a mini-staycation at The Emerson. The Asian inspired food and drinks will be available until 28 August.
