Dinner with the Angels A Compelling Charity Event
Dinner with the Angels reached the heights once again with a highly impressive gala event held in the Docklands in September 2016. The World Loves Melbourne enjoyed an amazing evening of entertainment, impacting speeches, a fun auction with fabulous items and stunning food from Supernormal. We also hosted a table of awesome competition winners and had the best of times.
Dinner With The Angels is Anglicare Victoria’s major annual fundraiser – a spectacular gastronomic gala attended by over 500 people, who share a memorable night of fantastic food, wine and entertainment at Peninsula, Docklands.
The event is unique in that it brings together up to 25 of the States finest chefs who donate their time, produce and expertise to take our guests on a magnificent three course culinary journey.
The invaluable support of the chefs, our guests and of course our wonderful sponsors makes this event possible each year and ultimately assists Anglicare Victoria in raising significant funds for the State’s most vulnerable children.
The atmosphere is first class; this is a premium event not to be missed.
The dining experience at Dinner with the Angels is stunning. As my friend said, "often at charity events you get average food, but this is amazing." Supernormal served up exceptional food to our table and it was a talking point. There was no diminishing of quality between what you get at Supernormal and their cooking for this event. Calamari and prawn salad with spring onion dressing was zesty and a perfect combination of flavours.
CEO Paul McDonald is an inspiring man...
What a feast! Slow cooked Szechuan lamb, spring onion pancakes and broccolini salad was absolutely sensational. Melt in your mouth lamb with a kick of spice.
We were all raving about this, and the servings were generous. Washed down with Dal Zotto wines - as good as it gets.
Hearing from those who have benefitted from Anglicare programs is totally inspiring.
Beverley O'Connor from The ABC was an elegant and perfect host.
Thanks to all the chefs from top Victorian restaurants for uniting for a stellar cause!
Dessert was another triumph from Supernormal featuring Spiced apple jelly, tonka custard, apple compote, cinnamon crumble. A taste and texture cacophony.
Then it was time to dance the night away!
Why should you book tickets for next year? Here are a couple of responses from top chefs.
Santiago Nine-Fernandez – Sault Daylesford
This is your first time taking part in Anglicare Victoria’s Gala dinner – are you looking forward to the experience?
I am really looking to participating in the gala because it's a great opportunity for me to be involved in the community, meet some great chefs and foodies and above all collaborate with Anglicare Victoria supporting a great cause representing Sault Restaurant.
How important is it to give something back to a worthy charity such as Anglicare Victoria and help children who need it most?
As a father I feel emotionally touched by this event and the work of Anglicare Victoria organizing such a massive event and giving the opportunity to people to make a contribution to support those children and families in exchange of an amazing evening and dinner.
As a chef I'm feeling extremely lucky that Anglicare offered this amazing opportunity to myself and my sous chef Raymond and allowed us to contribute and collaborate to raise funds for such an incredibly good cause.
What is your opinion on the state of regional Victoria’s foodie scene? Does it stack up internationally?
I believe the regional Victoria food scene gets stronger each year, thanks to the work of great chefs, restaurateurs, producers and growers working hard to deliver always the best quality and service. We have the example here in Daylesford where there's an incredible number of great restaurants and cafes
Any hints on what we could expect you to cook for this year’s event?
