The Cliveden Buffet impresses at Pullman on the Park
The Cliveden at Pullman on the Park is a joyful destination for those who love to catch up with friends and family in a stunning stylish setting. And for buffet lovers its a must visit. The World Loves Melbourne was invited to experience a dinner buffet at The Cliveden.
The Cliveden name was heralded back in the 80s in Melbourne; a classic dining destination. Pullman on the Park has revived the Cliveden after a massive renovation. The bar and restaurant areas have been revamped and are a delightful destination for your catch ups, whether before the footy or for lunch and dinner.
The Cliveden is located in a great part of Melbourne on the fringe of the CBD, with parking available on site if you are dining or a guest of the Hotel. Check out the signature vespa.
The long sleek Bar is popular when the footy and events at the MCG are in swing; but is recommended as a place to relax and catch up with friends. There's a feeling of light and spaciousness and the attractive Fitzroy Gardens can be seen from the large windows.
The Bloody Aussie Negroni is superb and features one of our favourites Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin and Red Okar.
The Cliveden also has attractive mocktails available for those who so desire.
Tapas are a hit at the Bar and we enjoyed a premium selection along with cocktails.
Stylish and appealing.
Salivate over bar menu dishes such as Hummus, Grilled Chorizo, White Anchovies, and Cod Croquettes.
We arrived early but there was already several groups enjoying the buffet selections. Modern, well set out, stylish and exciting.
The Roast Bar is a highlight and the chef will slice you delectable roast beef (or whatever is the roast of the day).
Fresh large prawns of excellent quality; we couldn't help piling a few of these onto our plates. We can verify that staff were quick to replenish the bowls, and the service at The Cliveden was excellent throughout (including a lady who memorised our names and called us by our first names all night).
Here we have a typical plate of food from the seafood section of the buffet; note that I don't over load up my plate as is the want of some at buffets.
Quality oysters are a popular option.
Several hot dish options are also available.
A highlight was the fresh pasta dish cooked up for us by the chef! Delicious with perfectly cooked pasta and melt in your mouth chicken and parmesan.
A cold selection (below) is also available.
Another highlight is the dessert bar including the now famous Chocolate fountain. So many options here and we loved it all.
High quality dessert treats are a perfect way to end your meal.
Here is one of my dessert plates, the other was of marshmallows and fruit on skewers with the chocolate from the fountain. We were told that you can have a jug of the chocolate at your table!
The Chocolate fountain is joyous, and a huge feature for the kids!
We were highly impressed with The Cliveden buffet as well as the Bar, and can't wait to return. Highly recommended.
