Cumulus Up Wine Bar is bringing Australia’s wine regions to Melbourne’s CBD with monthly pop-up tasting parties Wine lovers, have your diaries at the ready. Cumulus Up Wine Bar on Flinders Lane in Melbourne, is inviting you to join them in sampling some of Australia’s most exciting and interesting varietals and vintages. The City Cellar Door season runs from April to October 2018. One Saturday each month will see Cumulus Up Wine Bar brimming with winemakers and wine tasters.
Entry to a merry afternoon of tasting is gained through a very accessible gold coin at the door, which will be donated to the charity OzHarvest. Each City Cellar Door event will showcase a curated selection of wine producers from the featured region, that are rarely found gathered under the one roof. Together they will provide a full Cellar Door experience without leaving the city.
Each winemaker on show has developed a special friendship with Cumulus Up over the years and has been chosen by the team to show the diversity and unique qualities of their specific regions. Featured winemakers for each City Cellar Door will be released in the weeks leading up to the event. For the first time, Tasmania will be represented in the series with the October event dedicated to the best of our southern island neighbour. Having developed a reputation as a community-focused event, these Saturdays are made even more special with good vibes of wine-loving mates getting together to have a great time. City wanderers are invited to pop in at their convenience between 12 – 4pm, perhaps to extend a nice long brunch or to enjoy a pre-lunch tasting.
A seasonal snack menu will also be available to complement the wine styles of the featured region and the Wine Bar’s famous suckling pig makes for an impressive centrepiece to the event. Guests can enjoy a tasty roll stuffed with tender pork and cabbage slaw.
An evolution of the City Cellar Door series will take place on two additional dates in August and October – two Winemakers Lunches are planned for 2018 where guests can enjoy a collaborative lunch between the chefs and the winemaker.
