Launch of Miss Ping's Thai Eatery
Miss Ping's Thai Eatery is an exciting new addition to the food scene in Westfield Doncaster, with a sense of playfulness and fine food. The World Loves Melbourne attended the colourful launch and experienced some of the dishes of Miss Ping's. With attitude set to spice up Doncaster, this enticing venture has been created by hospitality veteran and Thailander owner, Winnie Chiang.
Set in the Westfield Doncaster cinema complex, Miss Ping’s presents a modern take on authentic Thai cuisine with flair and zing. Open seven nights a week, the restaurant boasts a full service lunch and dinner menu complete with a cocktail bar. Overlooking the sparkling Melbourne city skyline, the colourful and vibrant restaurant pays homage to the mystery and intrigue of a night in Bangkok.
Miss Ping’s signature dish is a unique take on the ever-popular Som Tam. Using the freshest papaya, the quintessential Thai dish is topped with tangy dressing and sweet skewers of protein. Be it pork or soft-shell crab, Miss Ping’s six Som Tam options ensure that every diner will sample this dish.
Lee Chan was a superb host.
The guests appeared to love the dishes constantly coming out from the kitchen.
Miss Ping's menu is extensive, featuring many Thai classics in all categories from spicy Thai salads to fragrant rice paddy dishes, noodles, soups and curries, culminating in vibrant wok dishes, all prepared right in front of guests in the wide-open kitchen. The World Loves Melbourne sampled some of the impressive dishes and felt they were top notch.
Green Curry was delicious.
Singaporean-born Winnie brought her cooking expertise to Australia to spread her wings. Her first venture was Thailander, a modern take on authentic Thai cuisine using fresh produce cooked to order. Since opening the first concept store in Little Collins St, Thailander has expanded its reach, franchising the concept to include locations such as Chadstone and Melbourne’s Galleria.
Following Thailander’s success, Miss Pings is the ultimate expression of Winnie’s creativity, mixing elements of historical and modern Thai cuisine.
Deeply passionate about her craft, Winnie remains heavily involved in each Thailander store hand making all the sauces for her restaurants. Miss Ping’s is a celebration of Thailand at its finest: bright lights, scrumptious delicacies and an element of surprise.
Check it out.
