Zero95 Chirnside Pizza Dinner
Zero95 has launched in Chirnside Park in East Ridge Drive, and we were invited along for a pizza inspired dinner. Zero95 is a popular pizza destination, and this is their third opening alongside Doncaster East and Dromana. In the past we have frequented the Doncaster East restaurant as its near where we live. Always packed Zero95 is a favourite among locals. So it was with a sense of excitement that we drove to Chirnside Park to experience the new Zero95 Chirnside. With plenty of parking (just drive around the back or side), the restaurant is easily accessible. This pizza haven is also featured in our Best Pizzas in Melbourne.
We walked in to be struck immediately by the stylish large restaurant with two large rooms, and a cute red fiat grabbing our attention as a centrepiece. Staff are friendly and engaging and keen to impress. Looking at the menu we noticed that wine is keenly priced and a good selection with your meal. The menu is wide ranging - although we were always going to order pizza as this is what they are famous for. The dough on the pizza is a delight, and the wood fire oven visible from the restaurant floor in the open kitchen is a star attraction in the making of their superb Italian style pizzas. My friend had just come back from Rome at the end of last year and remarked how the pizzas were as good as anything he experienced in Italy.
Of course Zero95 is famous for its Margerita pizza which won best pizza in the world in 2016. So you'd think we would order that famous Margherita pizza, but the selections were so enticing we ordered 3 others; the San Daniele, the 4 Carni (for the meat lovers) and the Capricciosa. We reckon Melbourne has a love affair with cappricciosa pizzas and were keen to try the Zero95 version. All washed down with keenly priced Sangiovese.
But before the pizza came we ordered an entree Chirnside Tasting Platter. This platter was Chef's choice highlighting the best of produce. It gives you a variety of Italian favourites. Seeing the Calamari dishes fly past, destined for other tables, I was keen to order their seafood but felt the platter would give a good representation of a variety of their selections. My friend and I enjoyed the platter, with highlights being the arancini balls, the burrata, prosciutto, the polenta chips, olives and cornichons.
Pizza hit the high notes as one of the best pizza destinations in Melbourne. San Daniele featured San Marzano tomatoes, San Daniele prosciutto, Buffalo Mozzarella and basil pesto.
We love some heat in our pizza...
The 4 Carni was my favourite featuring sausage, ham, hot salami, pancetta, mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes. While the Capricciosa featured mushrooms, olives, artichokes, mozzarella, ham and San Marzano tomatoes. All pizzas were top notch and to be raved about, and we ate until we were full. The little touches count and we were asked whether we wanted chilli oil and parmesan. For me pizza goes to another level with chilli oil dripped all over.
Artichokes are the best.
These are classic style pizzas but you can also order White base Pizzas, and a selection of Secondi Mains. Zero95 caters well for kids too with Bimbi selections for the little ones.
Zero95 is a joyous fun destination and there was a great vibe on a Monday night. We highly recommend this restaurant to Melburnians and those living in the region.
