Dinner Set Menu Joyous Indian Dining at Red Pepper
Date night? Catch up with friends or family? Red Pepper Indian Restaurant in Bourke St Melbourne is serving up some serious Dinner Set menu options, elevating the authentic dishes of India. Since 2006 Jagjeet Kaur has been delighting Melbourne diners with her "take" on classic authentic dishes, mainly from North India, but also bringing diners a culinary journey across the whole nation. Red Pepper has also extended its opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays to 11pm. And the restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner on Mother's Day.
Craving curry? Melt in your mouth creamy Butter chicken is a highlight at Red Pepper, featuring succulent chicken and Jagjeet Kaur's superb use of spices. Top notch Melbourne dining at Red Pepper, a restaurant that tends to exceed expectation in terms of value for money and the obvious care Jagjeet Kaur and her team put into every dish. The menu retains signatures such as the Butter Chicken, but the website features a sample menu as the menu is ever evolving with new dishes added regularly.
With a newly renovated restaurant, the Dinner set Menu has proved popular among diners as well as great value - 3 courses for $54 per person (at time of writing). For this, diners get a choice of entrees, mains and dessert, but also the dinner comes with sides such as Naan and rice. A filling meal at a reasonable price. Having visited the restaurant several times, I often hear customers commenting on th generosity of the dishes. Rich and rewarding food that satisfies.
With two dining halls, Red Pepper is the place to be for lunch or dinner, a place where you can relax and enjoy, without being rushed, in a calming leafy part of Bourke St. While some restaurants seem to try to rush customers to eat and leave, Red Pepper has a more relaxed style.
Crispy warm Naan hits the mark. Red Pepper is famous for its range of Naan from Spinach Naan, to Garlic Naan and Cheese Naan, to name a few.
Red Pepper is known for its quality saag, namely Punjabi village style saag dish with makki ki roti (corn flat bread). For me personally this is one of my favourites, for the texture not just the taste. It elevates "greens" to another level with creamy rewarding bliss, perfectly paired with the corn flat bread.
Hyderabadi Chicken dum Biryani is another popular dish at Red Pepper. Succulent chicken and soft fluffy rice, with fried onions is comfort food taken to the next level.
Meatball lover? Have you ever tried Kashmiri Chicken Goshtaba Meatballs? A luxurious rewarding medium spice dish of the very North with meatballs served in a lightly spiced white gravy.
Red Pepper has one of the strongest drinks list of any Indian restaurant in Melbourne, with a wide range of beers (over 30), wines, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
Another popular dish is Chana Bhatura, a Punjabi specialty featuring spicy tangy chickpea curry with puffy Bhatura deep fried bread. Such dishes are elevated interpretations of Indian street food, bringing the tastes of India to Melbourne, and feature in the Thali lunches menu.
Amritsari Chole Kulche is a highly rewarding dish featuring chickpea curry and Kulche bread, with condiments, also featuring in the Thali lunches menu.
We think this is one of the best value Dinner Set Menus in Melbourne. On Fridays and Saturdays Red Pepper take bookings up to 6.45pm then after that they welcome walk-ins until 10pm (with extended hours to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays).
If you want to get a great appreciation for authentic Indian food then Red Pepper is the place for you. A culinary road of discovery that excites.
