Giro D'Italia Italian Restaurant Popular with Melbourne Corporates
Giro D'Italia in St Kilda Rd Melbourne is a popular Italian restaurant with local creatives and corporates, serving up the best of Italian cuisine, in taking you on a journey of regional Italian fare (just like the famous bike race). Notably Dom's dish Spaghetti allo Scoglio has to be one of the most popular dishes with corporates in Melbourne (they sell many covers of this dish each day).
The perfect dish to distract you from your corporate cares and office demands, it features prawns, calamari, mussels and clams in delicious house made Spaghetti and compelling sauce. For mine a sensational dish that is everything you want from a seafood pasta dish, with a generous amount of seafood, and without being too heavy, so that you can return to the office satisfied and satiated (that's if you do decide to return to the office).
I was able to visit Dom recently at Giro D'Italia on a week night and experience again the joy of dining at this establishment, with it's reputation for service and hospitality, and delicious approachable food and wine. What can be better than authentic and delightful Italian dining?
Starters are also a highlight here, from the Arancini to the Sweet Potato Croquettes, to the Fish of the day Tartare, and the Antipasto (I enjoyed a combination of all of these). Pasta is top notch, featuring the popular Spaghetti allo Scoglio, but also I've savoured several of the pasta offerings here, and they are to be celebrated. Pizza is also popular but I'm yet to experience it. Secondi mains hit the high notes, and the standout for me is the Cotoletta all Milanese, a stunning and rewarding dish.
Sides and salads are compelling at Giro D'Italia including the famous Insalata di Mele with apple, rocket, cos and a captivating lemon dressing. Dolce is a must featuring a cracking Tiramisu as well as delicious Cannoli and Panna Cotta (once again I enjoyed a combination). The complete meal.
Wines and beverages are a strong point, and Dom can match the courses with select wines, and he has been known to bring out the Italian liqueurs for the perfect finish to your meal.
The kitchen and service team here is exceptional, and Dom himself is a Melbourne treasure. If you haven't experienced this cheerful, delicious, and authentic Italian restaurant with plenty of soul and passion, it's sure to brighten your day and excite your taste buds. Highly recommended.
