Brunch at Madonna Electric in Brunswick
Brunch at Madonna Electric on Sydney Rd Brunswick is an exceptional Italian brunch experience and revelation. This is a fun eclectic restaurant screaming deliciousness and authenticity with decor that is a nod to Madonna (the Catholic Madonna not the singer).
Their pizza is a showstopper and personally I love their electric-cooked thin crust 00 flour with generous toppings style (different to the plethora of wood-oven Neapolitan pizzas in Melbourne).
Madonna Electric have a real focus on creating high quality and traditional Italian dishes and are famous for their pizzas. Recently they started serving brunch and we were invited along on a fine Saturday morning. It was great to meet John the owner and hear of his lifelong passion for all things Italian.
We enjoyed (David and Zoe) -
✨Mortazza Panuzzo - Baked to order folded sandwich made with stretched pizza dough (as they say possibly life changing)
✨Capri Baked Eggs featuring Smoked ham, Porcini mushroom, Kalamata olives, Napoli sauce & Mozarella 🥚
✨Big Bobby Jay breakfast pizza with Mozzarella, Sausage, Pancetta, Porcini mushrooms, Potato gems, drizzled with tomato pizza sauce (the ultimate breakfast food with thin crisp pizza base)
✨Bloody Mario cocktail with muddled anchovy, tomato juice, Anice, pickle juice, jalapeño hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco (standout cocktail)
✨Coffee (excellent standard)
✨Apple Juice
With a sameness across many brunch menus in Melbourne, Madonna Electric is kicking goals as a unique quality offering. The cocktails are a highlight if my Bloody Mary is any indication.
