A25 Pizzeria Launches New Spring Menu at Bloggers Dinner
A25 Pizzeria is still fairly new into the restaurant scene opening at the end of 2014 and is making waves in South Yarra (plus now city), as a candidate for best pizza in Melbourne. The pizzeria has made its mark on Chapel Street for serving great-quality Italian food at an affordable price. You’ll find some of your classic Italian foods, homemade pasta; and if your taste buds are feeling adventurous, the menu has a selection of dishes that push the boundaries of flavours and ingredients without losing its Italian roots.
Founder, Remo Nicolini, is no stranger to the Melbourne restaurant scene and his past and current projects include +39 located on Little Bourke Street, Non Solo Pasta in Docklands, and St Kilda's Itali.co. Nicolini has recently teamed up with renowned Melbourne chef, Raymond Capaldi, to continue evolving the menu with different tastes and combinations that are far from boring. With spring just around the corner (we hope), we were treated to a sneak peak of A25’s spring menu. Here’s a snapshot of some of the new items to look forward to:
Bombolone di Parmigiano
A bombolone is an Italian filled doughnut and in this case it was served as a savory dish with parmesan custard rolled in salty sugar with a hint of paprika.
Ananas e Mortadella
This was like having a Hawaiian pizza without the heaviness of the dough or cheese. The pineapple was served warm rolled in chilli and wrapped in the mortadella. It was a gentle combination of both sweet, spicy and savory.
Conigilo Fritto
Otherwise known as Kentucky Fried Rabbit (KFR) this dish is in a league of its own. Served with artichoke pesto, the rabbit was juicy, tender and the crisp batter was perfectly seasoned and crunchy with every bite. I think even Colonel Sanders would say this is finger lickin' good!
Zucchine e Mirtilli
This isn’t your typical salad with some lettuce and vegetables, rather a combination of pan fried zucchini, sardines, pickled blueberries and chickweed. Those are not ingredients I would envision all together on a plate. However, the empty plate at the end of our meal told a different story. Very tasty!
Bufala
A classic item for any pizzeria – the thin crust pizza is topped with tomato, thick pieces of raw buffalo mozzarella and fresh pieces of basil leaves.
Tartufo
With black truffles, gorgonzola, leek, crispy chicken skin and potatoes this pizza has a lot going on. The richness of the gorgonzola gives a much smoother and creamy taste than your standard mozzarella cheese and the earthy flavour of the truffle blended well with the leek and potatoes.
Gucci by Gucci
Have you ever smelled a perfume and wondered what it would taste like? Maybe that’s just me but Raymond Capaldi has created a fragrance-inspired dessert based on Gucci by Gucci. Imagine guava, orange blossom, honey pear, papaya and vanilla layered perfectly into one dish. I can’t say enough about this dessert. It was amazing! And if you don’t believe it tastes like Gucci, you’ll get a little sample card of the perfume with dessert to compare.
I promise you will not be disappointed in this one.
