Jeep Portsea Polo
Soon the Birdcage will migrate to the beach, when the Mornington Peninsula hosts the Jeep Portsea Polo on Saturday 12 January, 2013.
Sell-out crowds of 5,000 are once again set to flock to Portsea for the must-attend event of the summer social calendar that will feature a stellar line up of entertainment including Manchester born DJ, Eric Powell, and Australian rock icon James Reyne.
The day itself has a charitable objective, with the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) being the official charity partner of the day. MCRI will be raising funds for research into ways to discover, prevent and treat conditions that affect babies, children and adolescents.
Over the 13 years of the event, the Jeep Portsea Polo has grown in size and stature whilst assisting in the raising of more than $1 million dollars for various charities, something which event organiser Dan Vaughan isextremely proud of.
"First we just believe this is a very special event for Melbourne - every year I walk through the crowd and get the most amazing feedback. The other reason we do it, though, is to raise funds for charity and this year we are proud to be assisting the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute once again.” Vaughan said.
The manicured lawns of Port Nepean Quarantine Station will play host to three thrilling polo matches with some of the world’s top players. Polo-goers can get their feet dirty with the traditional Royal Salute divot stomp or simply take in the spectacle with a glass of bubbly in one hand and a canapé in the other.
