Travel: Staying at the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City
We were delighted to stay at InterContinental Los Angeles Century City on the Avenue of the Stars during our recent stay in Los Angeles California. For a family visiting Los Angeles this was the perfect hotel stay.
Our wish list is that a hotel must have great facilities but also be in proximity to attractions. InterContinental is known for its high quality hotels around the world so we had confidence in the brand. We have stayed in InterContinental Hotels several times before and always had a great experience. From the moment you arrive you are greeted by hotel staff who genuinely enjoy meeting people and engaging them. Nothing is too difficult - even sending business documents via the Concierge staff.
One of the first things we noticed was the well apportioned room - and we had been upgraded to a family style Studio Suite. The view from the balcony was stunning, with sweeping views of Los Angeles.
Striking views...
The kids were then off to the superb pool area for fun including the hot tub spa.
We were even given a welcome spread of treats - thanks to the staff! - unexpected and typical of the service we received. The Mari Los Angeles restaurant at InterContinental Los Angeles Century City is top notch and the white theme and striking decor is impressive. Even the room service was more than expected with a fine range of dishes and decent portions. Something for everyone, including the kids.
Breakfast at Mari Los Angeles restaurant was amazing with one of the largest buffet selections we've ever seen in a hotel - a stunning selection.
For a family the InterContinental Los Angeles Century City was a superb hotel in the heart of Los Angeles. Nearby are the attractions of Beverly Hills, including Rodeo Drive shopping, movie studios and plenty of cafes and restaurants. Not far beyond that is Hollywood and the Walk of Fame and Sunset Boulevard and Hollywood Boulevard delights. But the location is such that most LA attractions are in reasonable proximity.
We prefer to stay away from the LAX precinct to somewhere closer to Downtown (where we can visit LA Live and catch a NBA games from Staples Center) and places like Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Santa Monica. We were able to get a ride in the free hotel limo to Beverly Hills - Rodeo Drive - a real bonus. We spent an afternoon getting our fashion fix on Rodeo Drive and surrounding streets. We found out you can literally have breakfast at Tiffany's!
It was also amazing to visit Santa Monica beach and walk along past Muscle Beach to Venice Beach - a decent walk but such eclectic sights and sounds. Bike riders, athletes, volleyball, basketball, people working the "bars", and all kinds of fitness activities go on along the beach. The walk down Santa Monica Pier is iconic with street buskers enthralling. The view down the coast is also captivating. Nearby shopping is also a highlight, and there are loads of quality eateries. All this a short trip from InterContinental Los Angeles Century City!
And as for visiting the NBA at Staples Center we saw an enthralling contest between LA Lakers and LA Clippers.
On the final day of our stay we worked in a trip to Disneyland - unforgettable!
Staff were attentive and engaging during our stay. The place was crawling with movie stars just before we arrived due to an Awards night; but we were made to feelllike movie stars ourselves by InterContinental Los Angeles Century City. Highly recommended to any travellers from Melbourne wanting to explore LA, do business in LA, or who just want to relax.
