Travel: Harbour Rocks Hotel Sydney

The question often comes up, where to stay in Sydney? The World Loves Melbourne recently stayed in a stunning hotel, Harbour Rocks Hotel, a boutique hotel located in The Rocks.

We felt this was perfect for our stay in Sydney, due to its heritage character, modern decor and fit out, killer view, hospitality and staff engagement, not to mention being located in the heart of the action! As part of the Accor group of MGallery collection of unique hotels, Harbour Rocks Hotel is not only boutique but also affordable, especially considering its location. For a business or family visit to Sydney, Harbour Rocks Hotel ticks all the boxes.

The little touches are paramount; on arrival we received a signed welcome card and bottle of Pinot Noir (which we gladly availed ourselves of, being from the Yarra Valley). Of course one of the first things you do in a hotel is check out the view - our panorama of the Sydney Opera House was an iconic unforgettable view!

Harbour Rocks Hotel impresses many with its entrance and lobby, and the iconic Library. We noticed many guests imbibing this area during our stay.

Modern features combine with the heritage of yesteryear; this being of historical significance as a former hospital.

We were recommended Creperie Suzette as part of the hotel, and it didn't disappoint. Creperie Suzette at The Harbour Rocks Hotel at The Rocks Sydney has a team of French crepe makers and an awesome selection of sweet and savory crepes and galettes made from locally sourced produce. Great with Double Roasters coffee.

Choose from the Galette or Crepe menu; something savoury or something sweet? Or even both, as in our case! Hard to resist the Nutella with Banana or Strawberries or the La Tasmanienne Smoked Salmon! These were superb crepes, and kudos to Harbour Rocks Hotel in providing options of quality hotel breakfast in the dining room, or taking the French option of crepes and galettes.

Harbour Rocks Hotel is also known for its excellent Scarlett Restaurant, which boasts fine cuisine and an intimate boutique ambience...

The World Loves Melbourne loved the fact everything is close by. the Rocks is a bustling precinct of activity and we enjoyed several markets open during our stay. Such a delight to meander and take in the markets without time pressures; while tasting and experiencing local products.

Extraordinary is that about 100m away is iconic Australia at it's best. The Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are stunning both day and night. A particular thrill was that David from The World Loves Melbourne's brother, Andrew, performed at the Sydney Opera House to launch his third album VIVID. The album has again dominated the ARIA charts and the concert with some of Australia's finest musicians was unforgettable.

Another short distance away is the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. Stroll around these amazing gardens on the edge of the city...

No trip to Sydney is complete without a shopping fix! The city centre and major shopping is within walking distance of Harbour Rocks Hotel. We enjoy The Strand for its heritage character and boutique shopping.

Around the corner from Harbour Rocks Hotel is Circular Quay, meaning we could hop on the Many Ferry for a small fee and enjoy a day of beach and sun. We love Melbourne, but there's something to be said that when its 13 degrees and cold in Melbourne, the ability to stretch out on the sand and sun bake on a sensational Sydney beach is rather attractive!

While we found everything within walking distance, we also appreciated the well appointed in-house gym (below). Car parking is also available in a car park across the road with discounted rates for guests.

We highly recommend Harbour Rocks Hotel and love the boutique advantages of Accor's MGallery collection of unique hotels. We need to disclose we received discount from the hotel during our stay, but we are keen to return to this hotel again as the perfect place to stay in Sydney.
