Prince Alfred Hotel Richmond

Prince Alfred Hotel in Church St Richmond is a local hero pub with a loyal following and plenty to offer, including top notch steaks and pub classics. We were invited along to experience the menu on a weeknight and were super impressed with the offering.

Salt & Pepper Calamari cooked to perfection with excellent aioli and squeeze of lemon.

There's a touch of class about the Prince Alfred, an iconic Melbourne pub since the 1920s, featuring a stunning facade with light stone and brick, discreet spaces and fireplaces, a marble-top bar, polished floorboards, and more expansive dining areas such as the famous beer garden. It's not out of place to wear your suit in the pub as the precinct is populated with marketing creatives and digital businesses (or neat casual will do).

Cosy fireplace was the place to be.

The menu includes pub classics such as Wagyu beef sliders, Salt & Pepper Calamari, Chorizo & Onion croquettes, famous Fried chicken tenders, and then a range of top notch steaks, ever popular Chicken parma, Veal Schnitzel, Beef Pie, Seared King Ora Salmon, a great range of gourmet pizzas, and other classics.

Porterhouse and Rump heaven, cooked to medium rare, served with sauces and side of chips and salad.

Even though our steaks came with chips we ordered the fries.

Of course we needed some greens, and the Broccolini is highly recommended.

Love the sear marks on the steak.

Washed down with Pepperjack.

Often a buzz here even on a cold weeknight; having several fireplaces is a winner. Prince Alfred Hotel has plenty of weeknight specials that are top value, perfect for locals.

Dessert hit the high notes.

While we could have dined in the eclectic beer garden we ended up dining in the dining room by a cosy fire. Service was top notch throughout with friendly and engaging staff.

You feel like your stepping into a heritage and historic pub in Melbourne but with modern offerings and a smart menu. A sense of style pervades, and not out of place with some of Melbourne's iconic furniture and style houses nearby.

Easy access to parking around Church St. Highly recommended.
