Owners Peter Roddy and Ebony Vagg have transformed the space previously known as Noir into a bright, convivial dining experience. On our visit, the place was packed on a Tuesday night—a testament to its growing popularity.
Cocktails here are a must-try, with the Paloma standing out as fabulous and the Winter Daiquiri adding a sultry note to the evening. The wine list is extraordinary, featuring gems like the 2022 Del Popolo Bianco Field Blend, the 2023 Defialy Controlled Chaos Grenache, and the 2021 Minimum Sangiovese from Goulburn Valley.
Our meal began with a warm focaccia topped with artichoke and broad bean—a triumph of taste and texture. The miso tuna crostini packed a flavorful punch, while the cheese croquettes with caramelized onion relish were an oozy hit. The salt and pepper calamari, elevated with a fresh lemon and basil dressing, was next-level good, and the beef carpaccio with capers was as visually pleasing as it was flavorful.
For mains, they recommend sharing three pastas between two people—a suggestion we gladly embraced. The pasta dishes here are exceptional, approachable yet elevated. The garlic prawn spaghetti with chili, tomato, and prawn bisque was divine, bursting with flavour and with big juicy prawns. The confit duck with cavatelli, smoked cinnamon, and mushroom was a showstopper delivering a rich, comforting depth. The beetroot raviolo, with ricotta, walnut, and balsamic, was simply outstanding.
To finish, the decadent chocolate tart with blood orange sorbet & the date and apple pudding with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream provided a sweet and perfect ending to a standout meal.
