Our night began at 340 seat vibrant creative leading craft beer brewer Bridge Road Brewers Brunswick where we sampled tasting paddles featuring “house-brewed hits”, as well as their “greatest hits” core range. Isaac on FOH and Mike, the head brewer, introduced us to heavier beers – and I mean that in the best possible way.
Standouts? The Village Pils, Bling IPA, Lager, Brunswick Sunset Hazy IPA, and a sour that had the perfect kick of passionfruit. A behind-the-scenes brewery tour from Mike added further depth to the experience. Beers are so fresh as tanks are connected to some of their 30 taps.
Then came dinner at iconic Lebanese restaurant Rumi Brunswick where Owner Chef Joseph Abboud welcomed us warmly and gave us the best of hospitality experiences. A Turkish delight cocktail and the 2024 William Downie Pinot Noir paired perfectly with dishes.
The Cheese Cigars were light yet decadent, and the School Prawns hit all the right notes of salty and tangy. House made Labneh and the Lebanese and Iranian pickled vegetables were wonderfully refreshing.
Then came more showstoppers: BBQ quail skewers, rich with charcoal flavor, and the BBQ half chicken “musakhan” baked on flatbread and sumac onions was a Palestinian chicken dish of note. The flatbread absorbed every last bit of its spiced juices. Cabbage salad and Persian pilaf were perfect sides. A Lebanese Pet Nat sealed the deal.
Our evening ended at FoMo Cinemas (thank you Tristan) where recliners, decadent popcorn and salted caramel choc tops were an indulgent pleasure. As we sank into plush seats, the acclaimed movie “Touch” played on the screen while a glass of Pike’s Sangiovese in hand felt more than appropriate. The luxe factor? Real tables between seats and a full menu – because why wouldn’t you want to dine as you watch?
