Melbourne-based food writer, Hilary McNevin, seeks out stories about food and wine, it’s her job and her passion. Join Hilary in June 2016 as she travels to the french region of Provence to seek out the stories behind the beautiful wines and bountiful, seasonal produceof this magical region.
Hilary’s experience in the food, wine, restaurant and media industries, spans over 25 years. She has worked and travelled through Europe and has friends in Paris and the south of France, near Marseilles, whom she visits as often as possible. Her work appears in The Guardian, Goodfood.com.au, The Age, Winestate magazine, James Halliday Wine Companion magazine, Broadsheet.com.au and The Weekly Review. She is the Australian contributor of the book 1001 Restaurants You Must Experience Before You Die (Murdoch Books), released in October 2014 and co-authored the cookbook, The Atlantic at Home, with chef Donovan Cooke, published in November 2014. She is the editor of the book, Temples of BBQ by Lance Rosen, to be released in August, 2015.
Those who take the trip with Hilary will immerse themselves in the region, and feast of bouillabaisse in Marseilles, sip on the stunning wines of the Bandol and stroll through Cassis.
They will visit Avignon, while savouring Chateauneuf du Pape wines. Take a cooking class, and tour the breathtaking villages of Gordes, Rousisillon and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
Aix en Provence will be explored and the food markets of Saint Remy will be wandered through. Questions will be asked, food will be tasted, there’ll be lots of chatter and laughter!
Hilary will seek out the stories, the backgrounds, the flavours and the fun.
